The Daily Kelly - Day 240

This evening, I had to make an emergency cat food run to Petsmart... while I was there I went ahead and bought dog toys for my sister's dogs, Happy and Miley, and my boyfriend's dog, Lola.
Here's a random text conversation with my boyfriend:
After spending way too much money on cat food and dog toys, I headed to Publix to hunt down some GF flour. Here I am leaving Publix:
Once I had pulled out of Publix, I remembered that one of the main things I needed to buy tonight was paper towels. Fail. I decided to run in to Dollar Tree since it's the closest store to my house and I really didn't feel like doing battle at Target tonight. On my way out of Dollar Tree, a police officer pulled up next to me and started asking me questions about my night, it was really weird. Turns out, someone's car battery had died and they needed someone to jump the family's van. I was not aware of this, but apparently police vehicles cannot be used to jump other vehicles.
I told the cop I had a jump box, he told me that the family did too, but theirs was dead. I drove over to where the family's van was on the other side of the parking lot, whipped out my jump box, and it was so dead the battery indicator wouldn't even light up.
After that, I popped my hood (apparently my battery's super impressive, all of the men oooo'd and ahhhh'd) and the police used their jumper cables to get the family's van going. So I got to do a good deed tonight and I discovered that my jump box needs to be charged more often without actually needing to use it. Win-win. I went home and celebrated by making GF potato cakes. Noms.

The Daily Kelly - Day 239

It's Black Friday! Like most good retail employees, I had to work today. Good news is, I didn't have to go out and battle traffic or even change out of my sweatpants. Yay! Here I am wrapped in my Best Buy Snuggie (which I just remembered I own) working hard on black Friday... Calli demanded to check out lap from my new chair.
I decided to make potato cakes for dinner tonight, since I have enough left over mashed potatoes to feed an army. Then I realized I have no flour, GF or non-GF. So I had some grilled mashed potatoes and pie for dinner. It's all good. (Don't judge my skiing monkey pajama pants, they're awesome!)

The Daily Kelly - Day 238

It's Thanksgiving! And I'm alone because my family is in Florida, my boyfriend's family moved to South Carolina, and my boyfriend has to work... but I'm not falling into a deep depression or anything over it. I'm going to make a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner for myself that none of my family (or boyfriend) would eat. It starts with a Gardein Holiday Roast... (yes, that is a selfie with my sister and my nephew on my fridge, what can say, it's a family thing, lol):
I told my dad I wanted enough potatoes to have leftovers... he said go with eight potatoes... yeah, I think he was thinking eight smaller potatoes, there would not have been enough room in my mixer for nine potatoes:
Since I'm alone, I bought one sweet potato and and made a super ghetto-fabulous casserole. I realized once I'd made it that marshmallow topping is not part of our family tradition. It was still yummy either way.
My potholder met the top element in my toaster oven, better it than my hand:
Here's my solo Thanksgiving dinner: Mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, vegetarian roast, vegetarian gravy, and a single-serve sweet potato casserole.
And a strawberry Ramune soda. I was hoping it would be easier to get the marble to drop this time, after my practice one the other day... not so much. But it was better than it was a few days ago and way better than when the waiter had to open it for me in Iowa, lol.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Daily Kelly - Day 237

Once again, Calli has decided the human makes a better bed than her bed:
My new desk chair came today! Yay! And it has very specific instructions to "Insert screws into proper hole location" good to know...
And an extra special beverage. I had this at a Japanese restaurant in Iowa last year, I found it at my local grocery store this week. Yay!

The Daily Kelly - Day 236

Today I worked... and took a break to walk and get the mail. Yay for getting out of the house! It was super cold, so I threw my hat on before I went... but I didn't bother wearing a coat or anything, my hoodie was (supposed) to be warm enough:
Back to work I went and, at various times throughout the day, I found both of my cats lurking in front of the little heater in my office:

Today I also noticed that Pete has had his first growth spurt since I put him in the water:
I also got another Quarterly box today, it's NYE01 - curated by Bill Nye, the Science Guy:
I am so excited about this box. I wasn't looking for another Quarterly box, but as soon as I got the email that Bill Nye was going to be curating, I had to sign up. He totally didn't disappoint. It even came with an activity I'll have to save until I have a yard, a build your own sun dial kit. Loads of fun here!

The Daily Kelly - Day 235

I am so afraid I am getting sick. I have no energy. And I may have a fever, but I'm not going to go take my temperature. I do look a little rosy cheeked in this pic though:

The Daily Kelly - Day 234

I feel wrecked. Today I spent most of the time trying to reinstall programs and transfer my data on to the new HDD. In between that, I napped. As far as my computer goes, it looks like the only program I've lost for sure is Microsoft Office. I don't have my key any more and it wasn't a new version that's registered to my Microsoft account. Not the end of the world, but still kind of annoying.
Here's an aerial selfie of sleepy Kelly:
While I was conked out today, Cokaya stayed by my side constantly. She's the best dog trapped in a cat's body anyone could ever ask for:
She had her own side of the bed:
Don't worry, Calli was around too (don't judge my snowman pants, they're awesome):

The Daily Kelly - Day 233

I started the day today making the decision to open my Tee No Evil t-shirt. I got it from helping to fund a KickStarter project and their shirts are now available at Tee No Evil. I've been waiting for some "special" occasion to open the exquisitely packaged shirt and I figured today was a good day as I am headed to see my boyfriend for the first time in weeks.
Here I am out to dinner in Athens with my boyfriend, I'm wearing my YOLO? zombie shirt and that sign I'm holding is for creme brûlée... not typical Carrabba's fare. We didn't try it, we were both too full from dinner to have dessert.
Once I headed back home, I stopped to get the mail and saw this sign. I love the scare tactics they're trying to use to rent garages. There is no way on earth I'd still have a garage if I had to pay $50 a month for it, though I'm glad my car lives in a garage so I don't have to guard my catalytic converter with my life.
On my doorstep when I got home, for real this time, was the new bigger hard drive for my computer. Yay! I decided to go ahead and install it tonight. I've never done any sort of computer hardware repair before, but I take it as a good sign that so far, my computer knows it's a Mac.
After a few hours of reloading the operating system and doing the upgrades, I'm finally back to Mavericks and ready to transfer my data back over. As you may have realized, pictures make up the bulk of my storage issues, take a look at my iPhoto library:
Luckily, it picked up the pace and didn't take anywhere near that log to complete the transfer.

The Daily Kelly - Day 232

Here's a random Free App of the Week I decided to try out tonight. It's called Mosaicam... it works like the various collage apps out there, but you get to take live pictures and see the holes at the same time... so nothing special.

The Daily Kelly - Day 231

Another late night at work. Calli decided to join me on the exercise ball. Sometimes I do not understand this cat, at all.
Here she is loving on the edge bumper (my "desk" is a countertop my landlord installed in what they call the "sun room"... it was ridiculously sharp when I started working from home):

The Daily Kelly - Day 230

This morning, I went to Target and they had Christmas candy out!! Woot! I wait all year for red and green Sprees and Frosty Nerds.
While I was there, I noticed that Stocking the Elf now comes in colors... I find this very exciting. Creeper, as I like to call him, kind of freaked me out last year. But, I do have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to him, check out his antics: Pinterest: Stocking Stalking
Target, in their infinite holiday awesomeness, also had my cookie cutters. Ninja!! I didn't buy them, but they are so totally Kelly.

The Daily Kelly - Day 229

Already put my phone on the charger... it's an iPad picture! At least I'm not in bed yet... but I am in the bathroom. Not entirely sure which is worse, lol.
First one was a little blurry, so I tried again... now I just look exhausted, lol.

The Daily Kelly - Day 228

Since I have started working from home, Cokaya has been become more and more of a people kitty. Today, she let me hold her while sitting on my exercise ball with no struggling or anything, she was perfectly content just to chill.
This picture lets you see a little more of her face, which is always in shadow in pics. She looks a little like a raccoon here too... but that may just be because when she was a kitten she used to run sideways like a raccoon and now I've got that image of her in my head :-)

The Daily Kelly - Day 227

Today my second Quarterly box arrived(or at least today's when I opened it, I don't always get the mail daily... or every few days)! It was super heavy.
This box had way more going for it than the last one. The Collector's Edition of Aliens is amazing... so amazing I already own it :-\, but I'm sure I'll find a use for it. The most awesome thing in the box (for me, at least) is the Choose Your Own Adventure-style copy of Hamlet. I am soooo excited to dig in to this massively massive book of fun.
Now for an update on Pete the Potato. I did some reading online and discovered that sweet potatoes are not supposed to grow like crazy without water. So here's Pete before the water:
And here he is after I got him a cup and some water. Here's hoping he keeps on growing and doesn't get moldy:
 Here's a semi-blurry selfie I took with Pete tonight (yeah, he's a little handsey):

The Daily Kelly - Day 226

Calli tried to help me work today... she ended up getting kicked out of my office for a while:
Today I also installed Parallels and Windows 8.1 on my Mac. Not sure how I feel about it so far, definitely won't be using the Windows side too much, but it will be nice to have when I'm trying to walk clients through things over the phone.
And here are my two cats. Cokaya's rolling around on her back like a dog and I believe Calli may have her mouse under her paw in this picture.

The Daily Kelly - Day 225

Took a shower before bed, decided to blow dry my hair since it's crazy cold outside. Of course, when I blow dry my hair is goes all crazy. I think I look like Angelica's Cynthia doll from Rugrats.
The dark shadow is from my iPad, not some crazy color thing with my hair.
You can see the blonde/orange line in my hair on the right side of the picture though...
