So I was working today, going at it at our normal pace of
insanity…. And all of a sudden the sky opens up and there's crazy lightening
and the insanity isn't just with work any more, it's also at home. I whipped
out my phone and checked the weather (because I only had two computers in front
of my face… sometimes I don't make sense to myself either). Here's what I saw:
I
live in Lawrenceville, which is in Gwinnett County.
So… then the power goes out. Just
BAM, silence. Which is not good when you're working on someone's computer and
your power goes out. I am totally buying a battery backup for my modem and
router. I should have already done that but seriously, my power almost never
ever ever goes out unless somebody cuts the lines… which has happened. Of
course, I was totally unable to reach my electric company, their outage line
was down, their website was down, it was very sad.
So I ended up sitting in the dark,
while the rain went all crazypants outside.
Once my electric company's site
came back up, I was able to at least see who all was sitting in the dark with
me. The A is my house. Red is the highest number of customers without power, the other colors are smaller groupings of people without power. Here is also the zip code view, mine is the top one. That's a crazy number.
